Comments: I just stumbled upon this website, as a matter of fact, I do have some old WFL pennants: Southern Cal Sun, Memphis
Southmen and the Portland Storm. I went to one WFL game during the '74 season. The game was at Anahiem Stadium with the Sun against the Charlotte Stars (ne New York). The caliber of play wasn't bad, but definitley not NFL standards.

Comments: Cavalcade Of Sports Network - 24 hour satellite sports channel going direct to home dish owners, similar to Classic Sports, but better in too many ways to list here. Seeking all sports footage from defunct leagues (WFL, USFL, WHA, ABA, etc.) Feel free to call (718)448-3247 at your convenience (call collect, if necessary)>

Comments: I probably have the largest collection of WFL memorabilia anywhere. I have approx 10 game films, original programs from 1974, including the first game, media guides for every team, posters, pictures, shirts, jewelry, footballs and game tickets. I was affiliated with them in 74-75 and collected avidly. While I am looking to add, I am also open to sell.

Comments: I remember watching a lot of WFL games on TVS. I was always fascinated by fledging leagues. My friend graduated from Wisconsin, he always talked about Rufus(Roadrunner)Fergason.
He played briefly with the Portland Storm, I liked their uniforms and logo. watching some struggling franchises was almost comical especially Shreveport. I remember them drawing 500 people for some games. They had a fullback who weighed about 275, I can't remember if it was Jim Nance or Cookie Gilchrist,oh well,I think it was nance. I enjoy your
website, keep up the great work. It helps me remember my past and what I was doing in 1974. Thanks

Comments: A friend told me about this page and I didn't believe it until I saw it. And now that I have seen it, I can't get enough of it!

I grew up in Hawaii when the WFL was born and I was a fan of The Hawaiians. That's what they were called, not Honolulu Hawaiians. I remember following the team and I still have a bunch of their stickers.

I loved the players of the WFL. I loved the uniforms and logos and I cried many tears when the league folded. My father was even an acquaintance of Chris Hemmeter.

I would be glad to chat with others about the WFL. I hope another league emerges and puts the NO FUN LEAGUE back in it's place.

I have this on my list of favorites and you can bet that I will visit here--OFTEN!!!!

Thanks so much!!!!

Comments: Wow, neat site! Seeing the old Storm/Thunder logos again brings back memories of growing up in Portland and being starved for pro sports of any kind! I remember they weren't very good teams, but we screamed and yelled nonetheless! Cozy little Civic Stadium was a dump in those days (some say it still is) but it was a great place to go watch games!

Comments: Greetings from a frequent visitor at Jacksonville Sharks/Express games! The WFL gave the city its first home pro football team, and attendance showed that pro football could succeed in north Florida. The NFL finally took notice, far too many years later. I have many fond memories of the brief run of the WFL, and still have some of the old memorabilia (programs, license plate, pennant, etc.). The WFL may be dead, but it isn't forgotten. Thanks for a great page!

Comments: i loved this league..and i love this page bringing back memories in a time where football was exciting..the status quo was dead..bright new teams ,colors ,and hope of proffesional football for cities such as birmingham, shreveport, portland, memphis etc....exciting to think of all the talent slated to come from the nfl in 76
it was a fun time being a 13 year old americans season ticket holder..if you had only seen the first night ,1974, Birmingham played the SCsun..noone beleived the crowd at legion field that midweek night..we were there early and as the crowd grew and grew ..oh the excitement that filled the air...finnally we had pro football in our town..it was so exciting..even the last game in 75 against the memphis team
csonka kiick and warfield...we contained them as the vulcans looked forward to the 75 wfl championship but later that week our wonderland had ended and all the fun and all the excitement and all the color and all the pagentry seemed like a nights dream.
