Comments: What a great site. I am young enough not to even be born when the WFL was in its hayday. But after seeing the NFL Films documentary on the WFL, I thought it was such a cool league with a lot of potential. BTW, does anyone know where I can find a copy of the WFL NFL Films piece, or when it will be on the air again? Email me and let me know at Zoso952003@yahoo.com.

Comments: WOW!!! People Remember.

My Father was an assistance coach for the Houston Texans/Shreveport Steamers. As a child, I was a " kick off tee boy".
How cool was that? I thank the WFL for some great life experiences. The courage and trust the many people put into establising the league demonstrates they were they were ahead of their time. Sadly , America was not ready. The memories of the league will always be a big part of my life.

Comments: I will never forget the uproar over Csonka, Kiick and Warfield signing with this league. That is why I love all of the new leagues that come along, just to see what kind of trouble they stir up. I do remember watching alot of the games, especially the championship game.

Comments: Last night I watched the WFL segment on Football America (NFL Network) for the second time. I actually went to the first New York Stars game played against the Birmingham Americans at Randalls Island. Just before the game a water main broke and the entire field was drenched. They played the game and George Mira threw a bomb in the last minute to beat the Stars in a high scoring game. I also had gone to an exhibition game at Anaheim Stadium to see the So. Calif. Sun play the Hawaiians. Speaking of the Sun, I actually briefly knew one of their players. I went to Emporia State in Kansas for a semester and during Christmas break rode back with a few guys including an ex-Emporia State player who had been drafted by the Lions and cut and was playing for the
Sun. He even had his home uniform jersey in the car's trunk. I should have probably bought if from him. I don't remember his name but I invited him over my Grandmother's house for lunch.

Comments: I was a season ticket holder for the Charlotte Hornets and still get steamed at the owners when they folded the WFL. Its was a great league of blue collar football players who played for the love of the game at low or no pay. I kept a few items that I collected during their seasons in Charlotte. Oh I often wonder what happened to Upton Bell?
