Comments: I always like to visit old memories of faded sport leagues; especially the ABA; but the world football league didn't last very long but had some big time players; though like the USFL; which was probably more succesful; it didn't last very long either.

Comments: Grew up in Michigan and was one of the few fans of the Detroit Wheels in my 8th grade class. I even picked up free posters the Wheels were giving out at our grocery store and turned my notebook into a Detroit Wheels notebook. Although they were a pretty sorry team I did enjoy cheering for them during 1974. I'm even thinking of ordering a "Wheels" mini helmet to add to my colection for "old time sake." Thanks for the memeories "Wheels." Since then I still follow the Lions, the USFL Michigan Panthers, AFL Detroit Drive and now the AFL Grand Rapids Rampage.

Comments: I grew up in New York and remeber watching, on TV, the New York Stars play in the very first WFL game against Jacksonville, where I live now {must be kismet or something}. I remember feeling upset when the Stars left New York and "beautiful" Randalls Island Stadium and moved to Charlotte, NC {actually back then, I thought they moved to Shreevport, LA. The local papers didn't cover the Stars too much}. I loved the WFL's style of the seven-point touchdown and the "action" PAT and the fact that the season started in July.

Comments: as a budding football historian, and life long fan, i was excited when i found this site. granted, being born in 1976, i have no memories of the league, lol. but i still want to learn more about it. now if i could only find a site dedicated to the old pacific coast football league (where i beleive either craig morton 0r greg landry played in). then it will almost be complete

Comments: Beautiful site. I remembered the cheesey graphics and the infamous "DICKEROD," the goofy first down marker the WFL used. After the games they would show TBird rollar derby--my what great days they were!!!

Comments: Great site! The interviews with WFL players and execs were especially fascinating. Someone should write a book--ala Terry Pluto's Loose Balls--with nothing but WFLers reminiscing about the Wiffle. Great to see some former players--and sons of players!(I'm gettin' old)--in the guestbook. Lots of facts and stats too! Great way to spend, oh, a week or so. The Wiffle lives!

Comments: This is a great site!
It brings back some good memories of a generally overlooked and underrated football league.
I was living in Georgia when my home state of NC got its first pro franchise, the Charlotte Hornets (formerly New York Stars). I could pick up Hornets night games on WBT.
I could also watch a few games on cable.
One of my fondest memories of that time was listening to a Charlotte-San Antonio game in which the Hornets recovered an onside kick en route to a come-from-behind win!
It's good to see the WFL immortalized this way. Good job!

Comments: Former WFL Memphis Southmen player. Enjoyed seeing the website of the original World Football League. The League itself gave some ballplayers a second chance in life as far as ascertaining their goals as pro ball players. I am a prime example. I spent my rookie year with Cincinnati Bengals, laid out 2 yrs., went back with Memphis, when league folded signed with NY Giants. Keep up the good work!
