Comments: As a huge Daryle Lamonica fan, I was originally thrilled that he signed on with the Southern California Sun in 1974. His playing time with the Raiders was essentially over mid-way through the 1973 Oakland season as Kenny Stabler took over. Why did Daryle only have 19 passing attempts in the 1975 Sun season?

Great WFL page!

Comments: I am the son of Billy Tohill. He coached for the World Champion Birmingham Americans and the Birmingham Vulcans. He died two years ago and wore his Championship ring until his death. I have his championship ring and wear it proudly as it is about the only thing they got for alot of hard work!!!

Comments: What a great site to stumble on! Kudos to those whose efforts keep the spirit and memory of the WFL alive.

I was a part of the WFL, as a player, from its inception to demise. I bounced around with Birmingham and Portland in '74, and Philadelphia in '75.

In going through the entire guestbook, I was pleased to see entires by 2 of my old teammates: Dennis Homan (Birmingham Americans) and JJ Jennings (Philadelphia Bell).

Dennis Homan was our mainstay wide receiver at B'Ham, pulling down the passes of Mathew Reed and George Mira (Dennis, remember the '74 training camp at that godforsaken Marion Institute?). He had come to the WFL after an outstanding NFL stint. Coming to B'ham was like coming home, since he was a UofA star.

JJ Jennings came to the Bell after leading the country in rushing as a collegian out of Rutgers. He was a powerful back who also had a great head on his shoulders.

I often wonder how the old WFLers are doing, and it is nice to see a few of the old names.

If any of the guys see this entry, feel free to drop me a note!

Comments: Does anyone here remember a World Football League player named Aubrey Duncan? I will start looking for his name on the rosters. The reason I ask is that he is the coach of a Southern California women's professional football team and is identified in a story as having played in the World Football League. Because all too many players have claimed to play in the WFL, other professional leagues and colleges when they did not, I am pretty skeptical of those claims until I can check them out.

Comments: The answer to Shawn Webb's question of June 28, "Who were the Las Vegas Cowboys," is that they were a Continental Football League team that played in 1968-69. The URL for an article on the Continental Football League mentioning them is http://www.footballresearch.com/articles/frpage.cfm?topic=contlg
