Comments: I am presently working on a book on the WFL. This is strictly for fun from a second-generation fan-not for profit (which might not net me much money if that was the case) I was only 7 years old when the league with the "action point" passed on into the neverland. This is my first attempt and trust me, It's tougher than I thought. To cut to the chase, does anybody know the following tales of lore:

When did Elvis or did he sing the National Anthem on what Memphis Southmen game, was it the opening game in 1974?

What game during the 74 or 75 campaign did the Southmen mascot, the little cub, who chewed on the power line and blew out the scoreboard and did the little guy survive? I hope.

Did the Florida Blazers franchise actually move to San Antonio or did the Orlando based team just fold and the Wings were granted an expansion franchise?

When did the Birmingham Vulcans and Memphis Southmen officially fold. (I know they applied to the NFL and were turned down)

Will there be a reunion of some sort on October 22, 2000 for the 25th anniversary of the league's memorial. I know this is morbid, but I figured it wouldn't hurt to ask.

Thanks A Lot

Chuck
WFL fan

Comments: I love the idea of a World Football site. However, we need help from the fans to bring out more information or stats or rosters of the teams and coaches.

The Birmingham Americans, later the Vulcans.....
Many great memories from this league....Which if my memory serves correct was absolutely the most exciting Professional football ever played....My father took me to many games....Birmingham always seemed to be in close last minute games....Still have a couple of programs and banners...
Surely someone has video footage somewhere and if anyone knows where...PLEASE let me know.....
WFL FOREVER!!

Comments: I have a lot of great memories about the WFL. My late father used to take me to the Hornets practices and he made friends with several of the players. I can remember one night after a ball game he took me back to the locker room where one of the players gave me his muddy elbow pad. Now that was neat for a 10 year old kid. The Hornets played their games at the old memorial coliseum which held around 25,000. I was only 10 years old but remember it like yesterday. I also got to hold the football for field goal try's at the Hornet practices. I believe the kickers name was Pete Rejeckie. (Now how many NFL teams would let a 10 yr old kid do that today? Linday Infante was an assistant coach.

Just recently I purchased a Charlotte Hornet mini helmet and love it! I gave one to my brother for his birthday and he went crazy over it. I still have a couple of programs and treasure the memories to this day.

Love your web page. Keep up the good work.
